الدكتورة أمل الغافري، أستاذة مشاركة في معهد مصدر، و هي أول عضو هيئة تدريس القومي في معهد مصدر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا. حصلت الدكتورة الغافري شهادة الدكتوراه في علوم وهندسة المواد من جامعة بيتسبرغ، بنسلفانيا، الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية. وقبل انضمامه إلى معهد مصدر للعلوم والتكنولوجيا، وكان الدكتور الغافري أستاذة مساعد في قسم الفيزياء في جامعة الإمارات العربية المتحدة في العين. التدريس والتفاعل مع الطلاب قد ألهم الدكتورة الغافري لدعم النساء في مجال العلوم والهندسة في الشرق الأوسط. الدكتورة الغافري لها اهتمام كبير في نساء في مجال العلوم. وكانت الجهة المنظمة للمرأة في ورشة عمل للعلوم في معهد مصدر في عام 2010 مع وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية وجامعة ولاية ميتشيغان ديربورن .فازت بالعديد من الجوائز مثل جائزة مبادرة رئيس الوزراء في المملكة المتحدة عام 2009، PMI2، وهو برنامج تمويل البحوث التعاون بين المملكة المتحدة والإمارات العربية المتحدة، وحصلت على النساء عام 2009 في العلوم والتكنولوجيا زمالة من وزارة الخارجية الأميركية. وبالإضافة إلى ذلك فازت اثنين من جوائز التميز العلمي الشيخ راشد واحد في عام 2000 والأخرى في عام 2007

 

Dr. Amal Al Ghaferi , an associate professor in Masdar Institute, she is the first National Faculty member at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology. Dr. Al Ghaferi got her PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Pittsburgh, PA, USA. She has more than fifty publications between conferences and published papers in carbon nanomaterials specifically graphene and carbon nano tubes and their applications in different fields like gas sensors, organic photovoltaic OPV, memory devices and water desalination. In Masdar Institute Dr. Al Ghaferi participated in establishing the research facilities infrastructure like electron microscopy suite and the clean room. Also she had established two advanced courses in electron Microscopy and X ray analysis. In additional to that Dr. Al Ghaferi was the interim dean of Student at Masdar Institute in 2015. She won many awards like the 2009 UK Prime Minister’s Initiative award, PMI2, which is a Research Co-operation Funding program between UK and UAE, and she got the 2009 Women in Science and Technology Fellowship from US Department of states. In additional to that she won two of Sheikh Rashid Scientific Distinction Awards one in 2000 and the other in 2007. Prior to joining Masdar Insatiate of Science and Technology, Dr. Al Ghaferi was an assistant Professor at the Physics Department at UAE University in Al Ain.. Teaching and interacting with students had inspired Dr. Al Ghaferi to support women in the field of Science and Engineering in Middle East. Dr. Al Ghaferi has great interest in Women in Science. She was the organizer of Women in Science workshop at Masdar Institute in 2010 with US Department of State and University of Michigan Dearborn .

تخرجت سندس حسين من جامعة بوسطون، وحصلت على بكالوريوس الهندسة - قسم تكنولوجيا المعلومات- لتصبح فيما بعد اختصاصية ومستشارة تقنية المعلومات طوال مسيرة مهنية مدتها 20 عامًا، وهي في مكنونها ناشطة تدافع عن العدالة والمساواة، وبفضل كونها المتحدثة الرسمية عن حملة "الكويت حرة" في لندن. أدركت أن أعمال التدمير والقتل البشعة التي يمارسها النظام العراقي في الكويت توجب عليها أن تعمل من أجل تخليص المصابين في هذه الأزمات. انخرطت سندس بالعمل مع الكثير من المنظمات مثل جمعية حقوق الإنسان بالكويت وجمعية خريجي الكويت وأسست عام 2003 حركة شعبية اسمها "ارتقاء المرأة" لمنح النساء الكويتيات حقوق سياسية برلمانية، وتعمل سندس حاليا على ملف النساء اللاتي يتعرضن للإيذاء وتعمل على تقديم الدعم المنزلي من خلال عدة حملات مثل بيت الخدمة "وإلغاء 153"

Sundus Hussein is graduate of Boston University as a computer engineer and became an IT specialist and consultant throughout her 20-year career. At heart she is an activist who pushes for justice and equality. As the Free Kuwait Campaign female spokesperson in London, she realized from the egregious acts of destruction and killing in Kuwait by the Iraqi regime that she needed to work for the plight of the less fortunate. Sundus became involved with many organizations like the Kuwait Human rights association and the Kuwait Graduate society and in 2003 co founded a street movement “Rise Up Women” to grant Kuwaiti women parliamentary political rights. Currently Sundus is working with abused women and domestic help through various campaigns like Bayt Al Khidma and Abolish153.

عليا الشامسي كاتبة إماراتية ومصورة من دبي. بعد حصولها على درجة البكالوريوس في التصوير الفوتوغرافي من جامعة غريفيث 2004 عملت كمصورة صحافية في الصحف المحلية التي تغطي الأخبار الإقليمية والعالمية. في عام 2008 حصلت على درجة الماجستير في الصور من جامعة دورهام وألقت محاضرات التصوير كعملة مساعد في الجامعة الأمريكية في الشارقة. وقد عرضت لها التصوير دوليا وتحمل الجوائز منها: مصادر تعليمية أخرى للمنح الدراسية 2007، المجلس البريطاني الثقافي في القيادة الدولية 2010 و 2011 امرأة الإمارات فنانة لهذا العام. وقد تم منح كتاب الشامسي نشرت مؤخرا Alayah الدعم من دبي للثقافة جزء من الطباعة والنشر حركتهم "قراءة في تحدي العربية

Emarati Author and Photographer from Dubai. After receiving a BA in Photography from Griffith University 2004 she worked as a photojournalist for local newspapers covering regional and international news. In 2008 she gained a MA in Photo-Image from Durham University and has lectured photography as an adjunct at the American University of Sharjah. Her photography has been exhibited internationally and holds awards including: EDAAD Scholarship 2007, British Council Cultural Leadership International 2010 and 2011 Emirates Woman Artist of the Year. Al Shamsi’s recently published book Alayah has been awarded the support from Dubai Culture part of their printing and publishing movement “Reading in Arabic Challenge”.

Yuthar AlRawahy founded the Oman Cancer Association, a non-profit patient advocacy NGO, after being diagnosed with cancer herself. She spent 15 years as president before stepping down in March 2016 and now holds the title of Honorary Life President. Yuthar was also a Member of the State Council (Majlis AlDowla) from 2011-2015. She continues to counsel cancer patients and their families and spread the message that regular examination and early diagnosis are life saving practices.

Najla Al-Midfa graduated from the University of Bath with a bachelors degree in Computer Science and did her MBA at Stanford University. Najla is the founder of Khayarat, a career development platform that bridges the divide between companies and high potential Emirati talent. Previous to that she was a senior manager at Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development. She has also worked in various international companies including PricewaterhouseCoopers(PwC), Shell Oil Company, Google. and McKinsey & Company. Hind AlObaidli is an award-winning artist and architect. Hind holds a Masters degree in Architecture from The Oxford School of Architecture at Oxford Brookes University in the United Kingdom. Hind is the co-owner of FOSC STUDIO, an interior and architecture design studio focused on developing innovative and creative designs. Beside her passion in design, Hind is also the founder of "Cheese Market", the first specialty cheese retailer in the Middle East and North Africa region.

لطيفة محمد البراك من مواليد الحي القبلي بفريج الغنيم في الكويت ، والدها رجل مثقف وسياسي شارك في المجلس التشريعي عام 1937. التحقت في أول مدرسة نظامية – مدرسة الوسطي – سنة 1937 ، وكانت قبل ذلك تتلقى تعليمها عند الملاية كالمتعارف عليه في ذاك الآوان. في عام 1943 عينت مُدرِسة في مَدرسة الشرقية ، وهي تعتبر ثالث معلمة في نظام التعليم العام في الكويت.تقاعدت من سلك التربية والتعليم بعد 34 سنة من الخدمة والتفاني في العمل. والسيدة لطيفة بشغفها للنشاط وإيمانها بسلامة الذهن والجسد، دأبت على مواصلة الحياة العامة من خلال التفاعل مع المجتمع وممارسة هواياتها واتباع اسلوب ونمط حياة صحية بانتظام

 

Latifa Mohammed Al Barak was born in Qibla district in the neighborhood of Al Ghunaim family in Kuwait. Her father, an educated man and politician participated in the Legislative Council in 1937. She joined Al Sharqiya School in 1937 which was the first systematic school and before that received education at Almulaiha like the majority during that time. In 1943 she was appointed in Al-Wosta School, as the third teacher in the education system in Kuwait and retired after 34 years of service and dedication to work. After her retirement, she continued healthy life style through interaction with the community with her social activities as she believes in being healthy in mind, soul and body.

تخرجت ريم الخليفة من جامعة انديكوت بدرجة البكالوريوس في الإتصال المرئي، و بعد بوسطن سافرت إلى إيطاليا حيث أخذت دورة مكثفة في تاريخ الفنون في مراكز فن الاستوديو العالمية في فلورنسا. بعد أن درّست ريم مواد الاتصال المرئي بكلية البحرين الجامعية، تفرّع حبها للتاريخ إلى تاريخ المستحضرات العلاجية، حيث افتتحت البار الأخضر لبيع مستحضرات العناية بالجسد للحفاظ على طقوس العناية بالجسد في الشرق الأوسط، ثم عادت لدراسة المستحضرات العطرية في بيركلي بولاية كاليفورنيا على يد ماندي آفتل و هي الوحيدة المتخصصة في العطارة الطبيعة في العالم. يسمح مشروع ريم الحالي لها، و هو البار الأخضر، بنشر معرفتها و حبها للمستحضرات العطرية و العلاجية، و يمكنها من حفظ و حماية ثقافة الأعشاب بالشرق الأوسط

Reem Al Khalifa graduated from Endicott college with a bachelors of visual communications, after Boston she traveled to Italy where she took an intensive art history course at SACI Florence, after teaching visual communications at University college of Bahrain, her love of history branched her into a history of medicinal ingredients, she started Green Bar to retail body care topreserve the middle east’s body care rituals, and then went back to study aromatic ingredients in Berkley California under Mandy Aftel the world’s only dedicated natural perfumer. Her current project Green Bar allows her to share her knowledge and her love of medicinal and aromatic ingredients and to be able to create some sort of preservation to archive the middle east’s herbal culture.

تالة الرمحي خريجة في جامعة ستانفورد وكولومبيا كلية الدراسات العليا في الصحافة. تعمل تالة حاليا في السياسة العامة لهيئة حكومية في أبو ظبي. وكانت ومؤخرا جزءا من اللجنة التي حصلت أبو ظبي الحق في استضافة ألعاب الأولمبياد الخاص العالمية لعام 2019. كما أنها سبق أن عملت في منصب نائب الرئيس ومدير البرامج في البيت المتوحد، وهي منظمة غير ربحية تقدم المبادرات التي تعالج التحديات الاجتماعية في دولة الإمارات العربية المتحدة. ومنذ ذلك الحين تالة تعمل في مشاريع أخرى. تالة تعمل أيضا كعضو في مجلس نادي جامعة ستانفورد للخريجين في دولة الامارات العربية المتحدة

 

Tala Al-Ramahi is a graduate of Stanford University and Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. Tala currently works in public policy for a reputable Abu Dhabi government entity. She was recently was part of the bid committee that won Abu Dhabi the right to host the Special Olympics World Games of 2019. She also previously served as Vice Chair and Director of Programs of Al Bayt Mitwahid, a non profit organization delivering initiatives that address societal challenges or gaps in the UAE. Since then Tala has been heading other projects. Tala also serves on the board of the Stanford University Alumni Club of the UAE.

مريم السبيعي كاتبة ورائدة أعمال قطرية تخرجت بدرجة الماجستير في دراسات التنمية من جامعة سواس في لندن . نشرت مجموعة من اعمالها ومنهم قصائدها باللغة الانجليزيه في كتاب "جمع من المد والجزر: مختارات من الشعر الخليجي المعاصر العربي" وهو كتاب عن مختارات من الشعر الخليج العربي المعاصر و بحثها "تحديات التقطير" الذي فاز بجائزه. مريم أسست "معا لقطر" مبادرة قطرية شبابية و شركتها "كيو تالنت" وهي شركة تهتم في توظيف وتطوير المواهب المحلية و تقديم مساحة الكترونيه لبيع منتجاتهم

Maryam Al Subaiey is a Qatari creative writer and entrepreneur. She has a MSc in Development Studies from SOAS University. She published several works such as her poems in "Gathering the Tide: An Anthology of Contemporary Arabian Gulf Poetry" in 2012 and her award winning essay "Qatarization- implementation challenges." Maryam is the founder of Qatar Together, a Qatari youth initiative, and Q Talent company.

أسست نور الدباغ بنفسجيل، منصة تنظيم المعارض للفن والتصميم في منطقة الخليج. كرائدة ابداعية وإجتماعية، خبرة نور تمتد من تنسيق المعارض وإنتاج الأفلام الوثائقية، وإدارة وجمع الأعمال الفنية غير هادفة للربح. نور تخرج من جامعة هارفارد وتخصص في الفنون البصرية والدراسات البيئية، وحصل على درجة الماجستير في الأعمال الفنية من معهد سوثبي للفنون في لندن. بنفسجيل المنصة الوحيدة في الخليج العربي تيسر التعاون في مختلف التخصصات الإبداعية "بنفس جيل". نور أيضا تحب اليوغا وسفر.

Noor Aldabbagh is the founder of Banafsajeel, a curatorial platform for art and design in the Gulf. As a creative and social entrepreneur, her background spans curating exhibitions, documentary filmmaking, not-for-profit management and collecting art. Noor graduated from Harvard with an undergraduate degree in Visual and Environmental Studies, and an MA in Art Business from the Sotheby's Institute of Art in London. Banafsajeel is the only curating platform in the Gulf facilitating collaboration across creative disciplines "be nafas jeel". Noor is also an avid yogi and traveller.

Hussa is the design strategist and managing partner of Raw Design Studio. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Graphic Design and Communication from the American University of Beirut. In 2009 Hussa employed her communication and design skills to co-found Sout Al Kuwait, a volunteer-based civil awareness group. Hussa combines the intrinsic values of organizational design and strategic innovation to achieve successful communication methodologies. With over 7 years of design strategy and cultural programming experience, Hussa founded, and also is the content leader of, Nuqat, a creative platform in the Middle East aiming to educate and connect creatives in the region.
